From July 28 to August 6, 2014 we will be running the first ever surf camps in North Korea (DPRK) to officially introduce the sport of surging to the country. In order to facilitate this project, LNKM is partnering with Surfing the Nations (STN) out of Hawaii (www.surfingthenations.com). STN will bring about twenty surfing instructors and beach safety personnel. We will also be purchasing surfing equipment to leave behind with the camp participants and beach shacks.
North Korea is open more than ever before to visitors coming to their land. We believe this openness is a terrific opportunity for us to introduce a new sport. It is also an opportunity for us to exchange culture, build good relationships, as well as to encourage better dialogue and understanding.

건국이래 최초< 파도타기 캠프>를 북한에서 개최하게 되었습니다. 파도타기 전문가들로 구성된 기독교단체 STN(Surfing the Nations/ www.surfingthenations.com) 에서 20명의 전문강사를 파견하여 북한 어린이들에게 스포츠로서 파도타기를 공식적으로 가르치며 교량 역할을 하게 됩니다. 이번 캠프에 사용하게 될 파도타기 용품 및 도구 등은 캠프 후에도 아이들이 지속적으로 연습할 수 있도록 기증하고 돌아올 계획입니다.
북한 땅은 닫혀있는 것 같으나 어느 때 보다 많이 열려있습니다. 스포츠를 통해 열린 문은 좋은 기회입니다. 이 기회를 통해 문화를 교류하며 인격적인 교제의 장을 열어가며 서로를 이해할 뿐 아니라 우리가 받은 것을 나눌 수 있기를 소망합니다.
